Moorogaabey Development Organization (www.moorogaabey.org) is a charity organization that is registered in England and governed by English law.

The Moorogaabey charity is now undertaking a major operation in supporting vulnerable people that was hit by the famine in east Africa which caused over 15 million people in Somalia/Somaliland, Ethiopia, Kenya and Djibouti became in need of emergency food and water after there was not rain in last two year.

These weak and vulnerable communities who were mainly farmers, livestock farmer lost everything they had in severe droughts in east Africa. Moorogaabey is doing its bit to support people in need and displaced before it becomes too late to receive support.

Moorogaabey Development Organization Management Team departed to Somalia to set up honest and reliable committees and observe how the current works of aid in Somalia for Internally Displaced People going on.

This team would Insha Allah contribute on how best to support the needy IDPs in Somalia. The team would train, support the formed/selected local individuals in how they will support to the droughts effected IDPs.

Moorogaabey Development Organization is currently undertaking a major food and Non food items, shelter distribution in Mogadishu, Somalia.

Moorogaabey is supporting now famine displaced people who reached in Mogadishu, Hudur, Baydhaba and Diinsoor. Moorogaabey is also planning to reach other towns where there is a greater need of emergency support which include, Afgoye, Baraawe, Merca, Qoryooley, Bardere, Dolow, Kismayo, Balcad, Jowhar, Dobley and etc.

The first part of the current project was focused on:

FOOD: Food for the displaced people who fled to Mogadishu has been the main focus for the Moorogaabey efforts. We have recognized that the first thing that these people need is something to eat before anything else

SHELTER: Proving shelters for the displaced people is another of our major priority.  Once we feed the people the second thing is to find a shelter for them and for that reason, we are now providing plastic tents.
